2015 NBA Draft Big Board Top 30

Justise Winslow

Wing – Duke University – Freshman

Height: 6’7” – Weight: 220 – Wingspan: 6’10.25” – Max Vertical: N/A

12.6 Points – 6.5 Rebounds – 2.1 Assists – 1.3 Steals – 48.6 FG% — 41.8 3P%

Overall Ranking #2 – Comparison: James Harden/Dwyane Wade

Strengths: One of the best defenders in this draft, very athletic and laterally quick, strength, and length. Bought in on defense — fights through screens, non-stop talk on defense, and closes out on shooters well. A gamer, wants to shut his man out if he can.

Offensively, Winslow is a spread-and-slash style player. He shoots the ball well, but gets to the cup and finishes effortlessly. Shot 41.8% from three – better on catch and shoot vs. off the dribble. Fastbreak machine, very Harden-like. Above average rebounding skills allowed him to rip down a rebound, go coast-to-coast, and finish at the rim in several different ways. EXTREMELY crafty around the basket.

Weaknesses: Poor free throw shooting, poor at creating a high percentage jump shot off the dribble, poor at finishing against NBA size players – was on display during NCAA Championship, he’d make a great move to the rim and missed a few easy buckets.

Summary: In today’s NBA, Justise Winslow is the player you’d want on your team from this year’s draft. He’s by far the best two-way wing player. He can defend multiple positions, rebound and pass at a high level, and can slash with anybody. He uses his body to create contact (AND finish) on drives, or transition, that rival only James Harden and Dwyane Wade. Must learn to shoot higher percentage from free throw line, and create his own three point shot if he wants to remain a stud at the next level.
