9 Lingering Questions From Draft Night

Is Rondo the odd man out now with Smart/Young addition?

Danny Ainge might be the most unpredictable man in basketball, but I’ve learned not to question what he does. After Orlando drafted Aaron Gordon (surprised me, I thought for sure Gordon was going to Boston at #6) my first thought was whether Boston would select Smart or Randle. Turns out they took Marcus Smart along with James Young out of Kentucky with #17.

After resigning Avery Bradley today to a 4 year $32 million contract you have to wonder, is Rondo out? Rumor has it that Rondo has asked for a $100 million extension, but after drafting Marcus Smart from Oklahoma State, Kentucky’s James Young, and resigning Bradley who is a PG/SG it doesn’t look good for Rondo. Boston has four other guards on their roster (Phil Pressey, Jarryd Bayless, Keith Bogans, and Chris Babb), when is there too many?? If Rondo is a plan for the future than why would you take another 2 guard? Smart/Bradley are both capable of playing either guard spot, but to draft another shooting guard it becomes mind boggling for Rajon. Rodney hood was available at #17, he can play as well as Young (also left handed), but as a small forward. Boston needs a legit big man that they can throw the ball to in the post while he eats the glass on both ends as well.

Ainge is in complete rebuilding mode and there are some NBA teams that would give up a lot to have Rajon Rondo on their team. Similar to Kevin Love, Rondo becomes a free agent after the 2014-2015 season and can decide his own destiny then. If Danny Ainge feels confident in a guard-trio of Bradley, Smart, and Young than Rondo will likely be on his way out of Beantown. Rondo is the last remaining tie to that 2008 championship team and was often the biggest key to Boston’s success the last few seasons. Trading Rondo would also clear up a lot of salary room for Boston to get that big man they desperately need, maybe Monroe?

Answer: I believe Rondo will be gone by the end of next season.

God does give us weaknesses so we can be hmbule and ask him for help after we tried to gain streghnth on our own. He want’s us to try and not sit back and wait for the blessing to happen. Nice blog topic. I myself need to ask for help more and soften my heart and stop being stubborn thinking I can accomplish something by myself with out any help.
