Predicting The NBA All-Rookie First Team

Nerlens Noel- C/PF, Philadelphia 76ers

Nerlens Noel is a 6’11”, 228 pound C/PF from the University of Kentucky. He was drafted 6th overall in the 2013 draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, but his draft rights were trade to the 76ers in the Jrue Holiday trade. Many people thought Noel was going to be drafted number 1 by the Cavs, but a torn ACL he suffered at Kentucky dropped him to 6th. Nerlens Noel did not play a single game in 2013, which is why he is considered a rookie. He is a lengthy, athletic big man who is a great defender (great instincts and shot blocker). Yes, Nerlens is underweight for the time being, but he will continue to gain muscle, and his length and leaping ability will not make it easy for opposing big men. The question with Noel was not whether or not he could play defense, but whether or not he would be able to establish himself on offense. However, if you watched the Summer League, you saw that Noel is much improved on the offensive end of the court. He has a much improved post game and was even making some mid-range shots and his free throws. He is also a great finisher and runs the court really well, which could lead to him getting some easy buckets in transition. I expect Nerlens Noel to have a great rookie season, and I believe he will definitely be able to land on the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
